Drag-n-drop from MusicBee to DOpus not working

I’ve always been been able to drag-n-drop any song(s) out of my music player, MusicBee, into dopus and it would copy the music files to the the dir. tonight I noticed it not working, nothing at all happens on dopus’ end.

if I drag on the desktop or onto a file explorer window it copies the tracks as expected.

on the latest beta, v13.17.6 on Win 10

Try setting Preferences / Miscellaneous / Advanced: [Compatibility] dragdrop_async = False.

That could happen if Opus is running elevated.

@Leo changing to **dragdtop_async** to flase didn’t correct this

hmm, I can still drag-n-drop from other apps, such as pictures out of my web browser.

I have my MusicBee.exe installed portably, its running off my M:\ drive next to my music collection.

Could it be doing this because in not installed in /ProgramFiles?

that’s a no. I installed MB on C: and still can’t drag-n-drop from it.

Any recent update of MB (that could have changed the way it is handling DnD)?

I thought of this. and it doesn’t seem so.

I tried installing the current v3.6 MB in /ProgramsFiles rather than the portable install.

and installed an older v3.5 from late 2023 (where I know it was working) and the same.

still can’t drag n drop into dopus but can onto the desktop or a file explorer window.

I have a portable version of MB “installed”. From what view are you doing DnD?

I’m way confused, I’ve been using music bout 15 years. it usually works great.

in the screen video I’m dropping into dopus vs explorer.

I’ve must have changed something in dopus prefs, just can’t figure out what I changed to make this isolated to just MusicBee

always\only use music in details mode. or as they call it, “Columns“. attached a screen recording.

I don’t have much else, nothing creating any screen overlays. trying to close background program from the task tray. no luck.

It’s not working here either: MusicBee Portable 3.5.8698 P / Opus 13.17

I can’t say if it even worked for me, as I never tried a DnD from MusicBee to Opus.

But two things seem weird though:

  • When doing the DnD from MusicBee, the cursor transforms into something unusual (some kind of file icon with a number corresponding to the number of files draged). So it might be using something “unusual” to do the DnD
  • It is not working in File Explorer neither for me :frowning: !! I get the cursor change, and a message when hovering the File Explorer window (saying “Copy to ”) but nothing gets copied.

I get the same icon from MusicBee when dragging over both dopus and file explorer.

still working for in file explorer.

I've been using this drag-n-drop a playlist into a folder for 5+ years in dopus. can't figure out why its stopped working.

I tried installing older version of both musicbee and dopus (back to v13.0, which it worked with a year ago) on both win 11 & 10, and still nothing. :-\

well the drag-n-drop mystery is strange.

but at lease I just just discovered that I can copy in MB and paste into DO with standard hotkeys Ctrl + c and Ctrl + v
