I opened a zip folder in DO9, edited a text file and saved the temporary copy that DO extracted, but the changes were not updated in the original file in the zip. Is this supported?

Not at the moment. Opus just extracts the file to a temporary directory and hands it off to the program that's associated with it. If the program changes the file Opus doesn't update the Zip at the moment. (Same with FTP sites, etc. as well.)
Well, this feature would be really-really nice to have
