It seems if DO trys to generate the thumbails for images in a RAR file it will cause an error if the RAR file also contains a folder.
As an example, click the "Download to Desktop" link on this page deviantart.com/deviation/20005399/ and open the downloaded RAR file in DO. It should cause an error when it tries the generate the thumbnails.

Confirmed. I downloaded the rar file you suggested and it did indeed error when I entered it in Dopus and used thumbnails mode.
I then made a rar file that did not contain the folder and it opened fine in thumbnails mode.
