As the title suggests, I can no longer use the expandable folder function in File-collections after version 13.17. Is this on purpose or a bug?

It’s intentional, due to a humber of problems that have always existed when expandable folders and collections are used together.
We may allow the combination again in the future.
Thanks for the reply. The function is convenient for my workflow, so I will stay in version 13.17 for a while until you get this fixed. Looking forward to the next available version 
Note that you can still expand folders inside of collections; it's just sub-collections that currently can't be expanded.
Are there any updates on this in the near plan?

Is it possible to leave a switch in Advance for someone who knows the bug and chooses to use limitedly?
We'll add an option for this in the next beta.

I’d love the option to use a Flat View in collections. Might that be possible?
You can use Flat View with libraries, if that helps.
