I'm content with most of what the Light version offers, except for not having explorer replacement. I understand that some incentive has to be there to go for Pro, but this feels like a very fundamental feature which seriously diminishes the value of Light for me. I've never used the rest of what Pro has to offer so I'm paying up for a lot of features that I don't need. I'm from a 3rd world country and Dopus is quite expensive, but I want to make it a point to support active development cause nothing else comes close.
If Light gets explorer replacement, I'd be upgrading with every other major release. So far in the 10 ish years I've been using it, I've only upgraded 2 times because of this very thing. I'm wondering what folks here think about this.
To my knowledge, Directory Opus Pro is the only file manager on the market that extensively replaces Windows File Manager. Given the variety of third-party file manager alternatives, both free and paid, I can understand why this functionality is considered "Pro" only.
I empathize from a financial perspective and agree including the functionality in the Light version might increase sales. That said, given the software's reputation and popularity, I can understand why GP Software continues to keep the functionality in Pro.
Opus Light was introduced 10 years ago in Opus 10.2 (Sep 2012).
In the decade since, there have only been two updates which we charged for: Opus 11 (March 2014) and Opus 12 (Sep 2016). All the updates between were free.
