I uninstalled DOpus (compatible-Vista mode), and then re-installed. At that point the "My Documents" key opened My Documents using a single-pane explorer window, with no tree, medium icons -- as it should, the default.
Once I re-boot, it uses DOpus, wit a double-pane plus tree.
Why does it modify the default when I specifically didn't want it to do so, and how do I get it not to do that?
If you install Opus using Windows 7's "Vista compatible" mode then you'll fool Opus into thinking it's running on Vista which can make it turn on the Explorer Replacement feature which doesn't currently work on Windows 7.
Opus currently disables (or tries to; there is an issue with importing configs that have it turned on) Explorer Replacement on Windows 7 because of this. That will change soon once the update is ready. But if you tell the OS to lie to Opus and pretend it's Vista then you'll run into problems.

Leo:
This is strange:
I uninstalled DO, and re-installed not using compatible mode.
My keyboard, a MS Wireless Laser 6000 2.0, has a "My Documents" key.
Having it set to it's default setting, if I press it after installing DO, it opens My Documents using DO.
By installing Opus in Vista compatibility mode it's possible it's still in that mode after a reinstall (even if you turned off compatibility mode for the installer the second time around). Check the properties for all of the Opus .exe files in Program Files.
Either way, it sounds like Opus is in Explorer Replacement mode. To turn that off you can either follow the steps mentioned in the "Windows 7 Explorer Replacement" link from page listing all the FAQs, or wait for the next Opus update which should resolve the problems (assuming they're not being created by left-over compatibility mode settings).
