Extraction stuck on last file, can't abort

Hi,

I've just attempted to extract two files from a 7z archive. The first one succeeded, but it got stuck on 0% for the second one, just counting up towards infinity. (probably) I was able to extract the same file using WinRAR, no problem. I tried extracting a single file from a different 7z archive, and ran into the same problem. Clicking abort or trying to close the window did nothing.

I tried forcibly terminating the processes via task manager, but I get access denied for the last dopus.exe, and I can't launch the application any longer.

I think that both attempts used a network drive as destination, in case that matters.

Using version 13.23.

I can’t reproduce this, unfortunately.

Is it specific to the tool that made the archives, maybe? Or the file types within them?

Could antivirus be blocking/delaying the operation?

How long did you wait for it to finish? Was the overall (“all files”) progress bar still moving to completion?

For solid 7z archives, Opus may continue extracting the whole solid chunk the file was part of in order to confirm the data is not corrupted, which can mean a delay after the end of the file.

What happens with the same archive extracted via 7-Zip rather than WinRAR? 7-Zip will behave closer to what Opus does and is a good thing to compare with.

Extracting using 7-Zip works as intended. Testing this on another machine (Windows 10 vs my Windows 11) with a newly installed Directory Opus, also seems to work, extracting the same files onto the same network drive.

The archives were made by someone else, so I couldn't say which tool was used, but they come from two unrelated sources, and the files types within are different. (PNG and a proprietary format)

I waited perhaps ten minutes. I don't recall seeing any overall progress being made. The PNG is < 1 MB, and the other files around 50 MB. I didn't see any indication of antivirus interference.

Even now, if I "analyze process" via the task manager, it lists three threads "awaiting completion of network I/O operations". I don't otherwise have issues with this network drive.

While it’s stuck, could you generate some process snapshots and send them to us?

We should be able to see which operation is blocking or slow from those.
