I have the same problem on my system. I have Autodesk Inventor installed and often get this error regarding fb.dll when opening the recycle bin and some control panel items. My last laptop had the same issue but the .reg file provided fixed things up. My new laptop is not responding the same way. I have tried using the .reg file as advised and also tried changing the setting in preferences but the error still occurs frequently. The Autodesk forum has no solution.
Disabling Autodesk's shell extension is the only alternative solution we can offer, since the error is coming from inside of Autodesk's code, they seem to be doing something wrong (and potentially unsafe), and we don't have access to their source code.
Autodesk are in a better place to debug it, as it's their extension going wrong and only they have the source code. Since their code is apparently looking for DLLs in an unsafe / incorrect way, they should want to fix (or at least investigate) this even for situations where the fb.dll error doesn't occur (e.g. within Explorer).
If you wish to disable the Autodesk shell extension(s), you can use a tool such as ShellExView or AutoRuns.
Old thread I know - but wanted to let you know that my work-around for this was to use ShellExView (as per Leo's suggestion) - and disable the "Autodesk Inventor Part" shell extension.
I had the same issue, Windows 8.1 x64, Inventor 2016.
Interestingly... Autodesk released no updates/patches for Inventor 2016. So hoping for a fix from them is a bit of a dead end.
Thanks Leo!
----EDIT----
Spoke too soon, updates are available for Inventor 2016 - will post back if any of them fix the FB.dll issue.
