There's a use case in Dual Mode where (at least) I would like to have two Viewer panes for easy comparison of any two given files, especially images, but also waveform previews, text and what not. Suggestion would be to simply enable this option in view modes and split the current single viewer into two, vertically. Maybe add a right-click option on the Viewer: "Dual Viewer" or something to that effect:
