File Copying [Directory Opus Manual]

Good Day -

I'm looking forward to testing and evaluating this in a production environment referencing: remote file copying / server-side copying detailed here (File Copying [Directory Opus Manual]).

Can someone tell if Opus is also optimized for remote updates to NTFS permissions like it is for remote file copying?

The reason I am asking is I manage a large file server where I made changes to Active Directory Groups and then updated the groups on two separate folders late last week Thursday afternoon. Every so often I get a message saying an unexpected network error occurred and gives me the option to click a "Continue" button.

Then, a second dialog box appears, telling me it is unable to save the permission changes to the folder and gives me an "OK" button and then upon clicking it ...

The process of updating permissions on child file / folder objects continues on. It has been doing this since week late Thursday afternoon. Granted, every time there is a network "hiccup", it stops and waits for an acknowledgement and for the OK and Continue buttons to be clicked before it resumes operations.

My question: does Directory Opus have something in its code where it can take advantage of remote copies for updating permissions as well in my reference to file copies with my original link to my post?

AFAIK Windows and SMB only have one way to set file permissions (if they are set at all; it’s optional, at least in Opus).

The way errors are handled may differ, but you’d need to try it to find out how it behaves with that particular scenario.

So no remote copy performance boost then for setting permission on the server side for permissions?
