suddenly outlook email attachements that are draged to a folder in opus have a changed file date of 01.01.4501 01:00 instead of the current date. Copy & paste is the same issue.
If I drag the same file to the same folder in windows explorer the file date is correct. The file is afterwards also visible with the correct date in Opus.
This happens to all tested email attchements.
any idea what is wrong?
"Suddenly" after updating Outlook, or Opus? (Or neither?)
Which versions of each are you using?
In Explorer, do the dates match the dates of the emails, or are the new files always being given the current date and time? (Try dragging the attachments into a new folder each time, otherwise files can pick up the dates of recently deleted files with the same names, which can complicate testing this kind of thing.)
i think I recently updated from Opus 12.17 to 12.20 and I just recently noticed this behaviour. So this might be one root cause but I am not sure. Howether I am not using this drag and drop daily.
I am also using Outlook 2019 for a long time without noticing any updates there.
In Explorer the files get the current date and time, not the email dates.
I also just noticed that a file beeing draged to opus with the date 01.01.4501 does not show any date at all when I navigate to it in Windows explorer. Only when I open the properties I see the 4501 date of it.
On my laptop PC I notice the same behaviour with Outlook 2016 and Opus 11.17 by the way.
Saving the file from outlook with a right click on it saves it with the current date.
Turning it off resumes saving the file with the current date. But this is only half a workaround because keeping the setting like this will give every file copy a new date which is not desirable.
Maybe we can add a check for this special date and reset it to the current date/time, but this will slow things down and it's really an Outlook issue, since Outlook is setting the file dates to that value (as Jon's post shows, Outlook uses that date when it doesn't know what the correct date is).
That would really be helpful as turning the preserve copy date option to off is not an alternative.
At least Windows explorer handles this issue already different and in a better way.
There the create date is also set to 01.01.4501 but the last changed date is the current date w
Thanks!
