File rename question (Standard Wildcard)

There seems to be a bug in v. 13 Standard Wildcard Rename. I am trying to append text the end of the filename to a set of files, namely,
Old name: . [Note: I'm entering this here as star dot star, but it's showing up after saving as just the dot. So I guess I'm also reporting a problem with the support site]
New Name: * [KM].*

This fails. I get, for example:
Old: IMG_0273.jpeg-2024-7-17 8.13.3.jpeg
New: IMG_0273.jpeg-2024-7-17 8.13 [KM].3.jpeg

The correct result would be:
New: IMG_0273.jpeg-2024-7-17 8.13.3 [KM].jpeg

Apparently the "." in the new filename is being treated as a literal and not as the file extension separator.
If I leave the Old Name field blank, then it works

Apparently the "." in the new filename is being treated as a literal and not as the file extension separator.

There's no difference between a dot and a "file extension separator", which is just a dot.

Also, you have "Ignore Extension" turned on, so your pattern doesn't even need to worry about the extension. Just rename from * to * [KM].
