Filter folders with flat view, possible?

Is it possible in DO9 to filter folders when in flat view mode? So for instance I type abc into the filter box I want it to show me all folders and files with abc in them. It seems to work only with files and not folders. I've tried setting the filter box to Files and Folders and just folders, but it doesn't seem to filter the folders.

From the Opus 9 release notes manual (Opus9ReleaseNotes.pdf) on page 34:

"In Flat View, the Folder filters are now ignored. This should hopefully resolve the confusion many users face when using filters in Flat View (file filters still work as normal)."

arggh checked the manual but not the release notes.

What confusion though? It's confusing now because you get used to how the filter works and then you change view modes and halve the functionality just stops working. Surely it would be less confusing if the filter functionality remained constant between views.

From reading that extract you quoted I'm guessing there is some history to that which is why this decision was made, but from where I'm standing it doesn't make sense.

In Opus 8 when a folder was filtered out in Flat View it also removed all children of that folder (including everything in subfolders), which kept confusing people.

In addition, the folder filter didn't work properly in Flat View when changes were made to the directory. Things would show up that shouldn't have, which was also confusing.

It was still useful, though... I hope we see the return of the feature with a few improvements. Maybe it just needs a new checkbox in the filter's menu which defines whether or not it is recursive in flat-view.

It would be nice if they could fix it so it works with folders the same way it works with files. So if I type abc in the filter box it shows all files with abc in their name including the ones in subfolders. Is it not possible to show all folders, including subfolders with abc in their name?
