Ctrl + F brings up search, which is great for finding a file, but how do I find a folder?
Exactly the same way, using the same tool. It can find both files and folders which match the criteria you enter.
Leo, thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately, whereas finding files can use wildcards, it seems that finding folders cannot (even with 'Use wildcards' selected). Pretty difficult to remember the exact name of some folders that one is looking for.
E.G. looking for the folder 'OldMasterAgencies', I entered Master. Nothing was found.
Am I doing something wrong?
Check that you didn't have any other criteria (e.g. size or date) selected.
Jon's reply just above is probably the important one, but it is also worth mentioning that, if we are talking about the Find panel's Simple tab, then the Name matching field is always in wildcards mode. The Use wildcards checkbox is below the Containing text field, both of which are irrelevant to folders.
If you're still having problems, please post a screenshot showing how you have set up the Find panel.
Thanks guys. This time around I had the wrong root folder selected - so of course DO couldn't find what I was looking for. Yes I'm a dill!
I'm perplexed, I have tried this many times previously and couldn't find folders, I doubt if I had the wrong root folder selected every time - but then again maybe I did.
I will just have to keep my eye on it.
Thanks again, what a wealth of information, really appreciated.
