Why does the Find Results panel, in my case from a duplicate files search, not behave like a normal Details view. Trying to sort the results by clicking the column headings does not work.
It should work. Are you talking about Find Results as shown in a collection within a normal Opus window, or as shown as part of the standalone Find window, or as shown in the Output window?
I think they should all let you sort by clicking the column header but I only ever use the Find Results collection myself.
That´s strange. It works perfectly here, on any column.
I've just done it again to make sure. The results are in File Collections/Duplicate Files.
Clicking on the column headings keeps the duplicate pairs together while sorting on the attribute clicked. If I click on the location heading, I would expect the results to be sorted by location - they're not. It still keeps duplicate pairs together an then seems to sort by location.
I'll just have to go back to "Duplicate File Finder" where the results do behave normally.
That makes sense. Duplicates are grouped together and any sorting you do happens within each group.
You can sort by location, but the sort will be within each duplicate group. (So it won't be that obvious unless you have duplicates in more than two folders, though you can see that clicking the Location column a second time will reverse each group.)
If you want to get a list of duplicate files and then sort by location there is a way to do it: Use Go -> File Collections in the default menu and create a copy of the Duplicate Files (or whatever you've used) collection. The copy will have the same contents but won't be flagged as a set of duplicates, so it functions like any other collection.
Thanks Leo
You can also turn off the Group Duplicates flag in Folder Options for the collection if desired.
