I find very useful the firefox-like way of searching in a lister.
You type one letter, than another and it fills the small find textbox in the bottom of the file list.
But an excellent feature would be to allow wildcards while searching .. For example, i want to search a file which contains Paris in a long list of directories.. I could just type *,p,a,r,i,s and would stop on the first file that matches this pattern..
This "find" feature can already be used to type paths or functions, it could just be more powerful with simple wildcards as well
Well i have thought about it and i really think that could be a nice thing ..
Where can i make an official feature request ? in the technical support page as Program Suggestion ?
is this possible to just type some part of a filename directly in the lister and act like the "partial match" of the filter field ?
or is there a way to directly go to the filter field (not the find field) just when I type something directly in the lister ? without pressing any hotkey first.
by the way, the solution suggested by frv seems very handy.
megosu : it seems something is planned for the next (and very soon) update of DO ! I hope it will be the feature i had requested (beginning typing in a lister with a "*" would enable wildcard-find)
For the filter, you can put the Filter in a toolbar and assign a hotkey to it : when you use that hotkey, the focus will be on the find textbox
