What am i doing wrong when i want to just print a list of the files in a folder?
I go into the folder, accept the default of "flat view, mixed"
But the output includes a lot more files than the ones in that one subfolder.

There are some details missing here.
Where is "flat view, mixed" offered as a default?
Are we talking about the Print/Export Folder command?
Could you show a screenshot of how the dialog (or whatever is being used) is set up, and what is happening as a result with the extra files?
Yes, Tools/Print/Export Folder Listing
I tried again more carefully and got the result I needed. I probably had previously not clicked into the desired folder before printing/exporting?
btw, is there a way to select multiple folders to print/export all at once ?
Default settings shown in this screen shot

It’s a bit laborious but adding them to a temporary Library should work, at least in theory.
