Folder Favorites Help

My understanding is that if I go to preferences and create a folder favorite, create a button with the format list, that when click the button and apply that folder favorite, the settings of the favorite folder will be applied to the folder showing in the lister.

Either I'm doing something wrong or it doesn't work in 8.2 unicode Windows xp sp2.

It seems that it will apply everything but the column sizes. For example, I create a favorites folder I call date sort, which I use to view the most recent files. The order of sorting works, it shows the columns I have specified, and in the order that I have specified them, but it arbitrarily picks a column size. If I edit the current folder and reset the column page to my date sort folder favorite, it correctly resets it to the specified folder size and when I apply the change, it works.

I've tried disabling the content type folder formats and the default formats. For testing purposes, I changed all of the default formats to the same column sizes to see if that was somehow over riding my favorites settings, but it had no effect.

Any help would be appreciated. This used to work perfectly, but somewhere along the way in the updating process it quit working.

Not exactly sure what you're talking about... I think you mean Folder Formats and not favorites? You're using a button that runs the command Properties FORMATLIST right?

In Preferences, if you select Folders and then the tab for Folder Formats, they are called Favorite Formats.

Yes, I am using a button that runs the command Properties FORMATLIST

Is auto-size columns in Details and Power modes checked on the Display tab? That'll override any explicit column widths.

Auto Size Columns is not checked

I had some trouble making my folder format selections stick, too, after upgrading to 8.2, including column-width issues. I eventually got it to work, but only by manually adjusting settings for specific folders rather than in content-type folder settings.

So, does that make it a bug, and if so, should I contact GP Software directly.
