Folder Formats and Default Lister Question

I have Preferences -> Listers -> Options -> Ignore folder format of Default Lister checked.

Folder content type detection is not enabled.

I have no folder specific formats.

Collection, Flat View, FTP, and Synchronize formats are checked, but shouldn't be relevant.

Based on the above, I think the only relevant format is Custom.

In the Custom format, the width of the Size(bytes) column is 111.

My default lister consists of several tabs.

If I open the default lister, all the tabs (except the irrelevant My Computer) have 111 for the width of the Size(bytes) column.

I open an additional tab, set the width of Size(bytes) in that tab to 200 and Set Default Lister.

The next time I open the default lister, the width of Size(bytes) in the tab last added to the default lister is 200.

What am I not understanding here? I thought Ignore folder format of Default Lister would cause the entire format of the default lister to come from Folder Formats, in this case the Custom format with a width of 111 for Size(bytes).

The above is, of course, a silly exercise except that it is a relatively easy to explain example of a more general misunderstanding.

Tabs store their own format, the 'Ignore folder format' option only applies to the Default Lister if it has no (or only one) tabs.

(I know it's an old thread)

As of 2022: Does this mean the "ignore folder format" option has no effect as soon as more than one tabs are configured to open with the default lister? I.e. also the tab defined as the one to be active upon launching the default lister is no way affected by this option? I didn't check, but I was very confused by the manual, my first thought was "why does it say formaT", not "formaT(S)", since for me the whole point (or one of the main points anyway  ) of default listers is that they will launch multiple tabs with frequent locations I use...

It applies to all tabs these days, based on testing what happens with the checkbox on and off.
