Folder opened via Everything Results doesn't read content

The folder in the left FD was opened via

@nodeselect
Go FROMSEL NEWTAB=nofocus

on the folder in the "search Results" in the adjacent tab and has displayed the "Reading folder..." message ever since.

The identical folder in the right FD was opened via simple navigation starting at G: (G: is an HDD.)

Memory dumps are available - just whistle :slight_smile:

Can't reproduce it here in a quick test so feel free to send dumps :slight_smile:

I can't repro this either.

Have you tried with all scripts removed in case it's an interaction with one of them?

The DMPs give us a place to look in more detail if needed, but we'll probably need to make a special test version with some extra debugging to work out exactly what's going wrong, if the scripts angle doesn't narrow it down any further.

No, I haven’t tried running it without scripts. I’d be surprised if they were involved, but I’ll give it a try.

It doesn’t happen all the time here either.

Over the past month or so, I’ve noticed occasional delays - for example, when moving small files into subfolders. Sometimes, it takes 10-15 seconds, almost as if a powered-down HDD were involved, but it’s actually the system SSD. There are no "Reading folder..." messages, and I haven’t been able to capture a memory dump.

It could very well be a Windows issue. Last year, I installed 24H2 when the Insider Preview became available, so some remnants might be causing these problems.

I hoped you could easily find something in the dumps pointing to the root cause. Overall, it’s not a major issue - just a bit annoying - and probably not worth spending too much time on.

Maybe this is a good reason to start fresh with a clean Windows installation. If the delays return, we can investigate further.
