Frustrations with Directory Opus' Startup and Window Restore Functionality

I'm absolutely fuming with how Directory Opus handles startup and window restoration. When the system starts, the software is set to launch automatically and reopen the windows that were left open when I last closed it. However, if I happen to open a different window before those previous ones have a chance to load, they simply don't restore at all! I expect this issue to be fixed, as it’s incredibly frustrating.

Furthermore, I understand that Directory Opus backs up the open windows automatically (the very ones I mentioned above), but I haven’t the faintest idea where these backups are stored, nor how to restore them. Ideally, I’d like an option to easily bring back the exact set of windows I had open previously.

Isn't waiting until all tabs have finished loading an option then?

The way it works (and has always worked) is that if Opus is launched due to a request to open a specific folder, then only that folder will open. Normally if you run Opus on startup it should open up quickly enough that it's already running by the time you do something to open another folder (e.g. double-click on an icon).

Note that Windows 10/11 has a delay before launching programs on startup which may mean Opus takes longer to startup than needed. We have a feature to disable this from Preferences / Miscellaneous / Windows Startup Delay.

The open window backup is stored in the same place as the Lister set that's saved when shutting Opus down (i.e. when you close Opus down it saves the Listers that were open - with the backup option on, it does this save at regular intervals rather than only when shutting down). There isn't currently a way to open that set other than to have it open automatically on startup, but we can look at adding a command to let you do this after startup.

We'll look at adding an option to force the previous Listers to reopen on startup even if something else opens as well.
