FTP address book - site names with slashes

Go FTPSITELIST FTPSITEICONS
show different list of sites from the one I see in FTP address book.

In FTP menu I have only 3 sites in the main folder. In address book there are 2 additional sites. I don't know where these came from. When looking at the name, it looks like a copy of "cer*.spe.pl" above but if I click them to see properties, there's only site name filled in, connection is set to standard connection (normally I use sFTP), no user name, no password and initial dir set to /var.
I might have drag&dropped "cer
.spe.pl" from folder "Spe" to main folder earlier.
Sorry for all those grayed-out names and asterisks but I don't want to publicly share domain names etc.

Please note that normally it's impossible to use backslashes in site names.

This might be meaningful: to synchronize configuration of DOpuses I sometimes selectively copy files from AppData\Roaming between DOpus instances. Usually I omit FTP configs as I don't want to synchronize sites, just other configuration.
I give you list of files that were synchronized.
list of synchronized files.txt (3.57 KB)

Please have a look at /dopusdata/ConfigFiles/ftp.oxc using a text editor to see if it provides any clues or things we can try.

Those extra sites have backslashes in their names, so the FTP menu will be treating it like they're in the sub-folder whereas the address book isn't. Inconsistent handling for something that's not really meant to be possible anyway - did you edit the names manually in the config file? The address book won't let you use a blackslash in a site name.

A snippet of my ftp.oxc file:

code

/var

/var

[/code]
I only put asterisks to hide addresses so as you can see it contains only port number, no other host information is provided.

I forgot to answer jon's question.

I have never edited ftp.oxc manually. But I might have copied it from one DOpus instance to another in the past.

The names shouldn't have slashes in. Take the slashes out of the config file and it should behave consistently.

I exited opus completely with Close PROGRAM=confirm, deleted those incorrect entries in ftp.oxc, relaunched DOpus and everything was ok. But I somehow managed to reproduced this problem.

It seems that if I open sFTP site in a lister, open FTP address book, move a site from subfolder to main folder ("sites"), then apply changes and change dir in lister with that sFTP open, DOpus saves information about last used dir (to use as initial dir on next connection open). This is when entry is duplicated with incorrect name (like it wanted to save it in subfolder but that entry was not there anymore). Sometimes DOpus duplicates moved sites in subfolder after moving items in address books.

Thanks for the extra info!

I haven't been able to reproduce this so far.

Is the folder tree turned on in the lister, with FTP sites displayed in it? (If so, does it still happen if you close the folder tree?)

When you move the site bookmark from a branch to the top level, do you also delete the branch or is it left there?

I successfully reproduced this bug on 50s video.
I made a picture-story of it but don't want to share it here, as it might contain sensitive data. I will send you a link to these images in private message. Let me know if you need the full video.

Thanks for the pictures.

I still can't reproduce the problem, so it's possible that it is tied to the names of the folders and sites, which I still can't see as they're all grayed out.

If you can't send unedited screenshots, could you try renaming the bookmark folders and site names to single words without any punctuation, to see if that makes a difference to whether it happens or not? (If it still goes wrong with the sites renamed, it should then allow a video to be made without requiring lots of redactions, which may be getting in the way of me understanding exactly what is happening.)
