FTP deletion and file count

I have option "Count files in folders before deleting" enabled.
Now, when i delete folders in a FTP, count is very slow.
Is there a way to disable files count for folders deletion in FTP

Don't think so.

Does disabling the option speed things up? The directories will have to be read anyway to find out which files need deleting (but maybe with the option on they will be read twice; I don't know for sure).

You're right. Nothing change with or without option enabled.

This count process is what is stopping me from using DO to manage files on my web site.

As an example I wanted to prune out a forum setup and the directory contained some 3810 files, 653 folders, 25.8Mb. DO started it's count prior to deleting and at the same time I launched Flash FXP to delete a copy of the same directory. Flash FXP took jsut under 10 minutes to complete the delete. DO was still counting....

So turn it off?

If I remember, in 2011, this option does nothing in FTP...
But we can skip this count now, there is "Skip" button in count window, no ?

Okay so now changed to 'local drives only'. Will see if that fixes it, however ideally I wanted it on for network drives, just off for ftp, and unless I'm missing something that is not an option?

BTW it was not obvious that the Progress Indicator setting when set as 'all local and network drives' included ftp sites. So I never even thought to change that setting. So it may be wise clarifying it in the help for that option, or adding a check box to exclude ftp sites (or similar).

We have increased granularity for the file count on the list going forward but for now, just click the SKIP button when you see the file count dialog. (I do this all the time and it resolves the issue.)

Right will do
