[FTP] Problems, locks,

Hi,

I have been using DOpus for a long time now, from version 6.x and if there is one area where there always have been problems, it is FTP.

  • From time to time, when transferring files from/to FTP, I get locks ups (ie: the application is not crashed, but transferred is just stalled).

  • From time to time, when transferring a lot of directories from FTP to local, I get this error:

Clicking on "retry" will make the FTP transfer stall again... Then I have a "skip" button, and clicking on it, doesn't change anything... Transfer is still stalled. The only thing I can do is click on cancel.

I think I have a way to reproduce this stall problem each time I transfer a certain directory: what could I do to help locating the problem ?
I had a look at the FTP log but I don't see anything about the file which causes this stalling of the transfer...

This is what I have in the log file after having clicked on "retry"...

Issues like this are best sent to GPSoftware support.

If you've got a good way to reproduce the error then that should help them track it down.

FTP problems sometimes depend on things that GPSoftware can't access/reproduce like the particular server you're connected to, network speed to the server, firewall software, routers/proxies, etc... But it sounds promising if you can reproduce it easily. Hopefully GPSoft can as well.

Well, I am aware of that, but the thing is they usually don't appear with other ftp clients (for ex. FileZilla).
I already reported a problem some years ago with files being transferred with a filesize of 0 bytes. Fortunately this one has been fixed since then. hopefully this one will be fixed as well

Yeah. I didn't mean to say those things are to blame*; just that they can make it difficult to reproduce some issues.

(*Though those things are sometimes to blame, of course, but even then Opus can usually be changed to work around problems if they can be reproduced so it's always worth reporting.)
