I do not like Full Row Select (Display Only unchecked) because dragging the mouse to highligh multiple files is near impossible when the columns are covering the entire length of the pane (first picture below). In the example below I could select from below the set of files. However, in many cases the list of files also fills the pane vertically which leaves no whitespace below the last file/folder.
No horizontal space for selecting (mouse click+drag) items
Currently I can select items by dragging my mouse anywhere in the pane, just as long as I don't start dragging by clicking on a file/folder directly. I love the freedom this form of highlighting offers.
What I would like to be able to do is click anywhere in the first column, except directly on the file, where there is white space and by doing so that selects the file/folder (fabricated image below shows what I desire). This way I can enjoy the freedom of highlighting, as described above, but I won't miss the file completely when I attempt to click on it. I'm sad to say that I am constantly double clicking on whitespace, which is set to directory up, when attempting to quickly select a file/directory. Is what I want possible in Dopus?
So I'm a bit confused by the opening of your message where you've said that you don't like "Full Row Select (Display Only unchecked) "... because you want the freedom to block/drag select multiple files.
That's why some of us specifically asked for the "Display Only" option a few releases ago... so we could still have the 'visual effect' of the full-row select option, but not so as to get in the way of our ability to do block/drag select. So, I'm confused about whether or not you even want the ~full-row highlight~ that the "Full-row selection" ++ "Display Only" options allow at all or not...
I suppose all the mentioning of the 'current' options are just getting in the way - and all you're asking for is the sort of capability you suggested in your very last (fabricated) image? Sort of a "File Name Column selection" option as oppsed to "Full-row selection"?
In any case, no... you can't currently do that - you haven't missed an option somewhere in Opus . You would need to submit a Feature Request / Program Suggestion to GPsoft.

I very much enjoy that feature. I brought up Full Row Selection as that is the only other form of selection I know of in Dopus. In retrospect it was a poor choice to include in my post .
