It's been a fairly long time since the last DOpus release back in October 2010. Just wondering if it is still being worked on.
(Forgot to say the last Illuminati version is older than the current release, too.)
Of course.
Nothing has been announced yet so I can't say much more for now...
That's good. Will there be more Illuminati versions before a official new release?
I'm sure there will be more Illuminati versions in the future but I don't know if the next release will be one or go straight to a normal release.
Does it actually matter?
Well, no, but just in terms of timeframe, I guess. Been so long anyway, nothing really matters anymore...
I think you've been spoilt by the amount and frequency of Opus updates in the past if you're calling this a long time between updates. I wish half the software I used was updated as recently as October.
Jonathan Potter announced in a recent interview (feb 2011) version 10 was planned for the first half of this year:
Good things come to those who wait.
One software package I use has yet to have a single update, despite the fact that it is now nearly a year since the company (Nuance) was told that there is a severe problem with its "activation" system. (The software can fail to work if you mess around with the USB drives it sees at startup.)
So, I agree, we are spoilt with Opus.
I interpret the silence as evidence that the current release of Opus has reached perfection and that no one ever sees any bugs, and that it now works seamlessly with the latest release of Windows.
Now, what was that "hang" that I saw the other day?
Nice one, mate. lol It's good but definitely not perfect, I can reproduce a dopus crash quite easily (but I never got around to laying out the details of it). And it's not completely seamless with Windows 7, since I did ask about getting a JumpList implemented into dopus someday.
Unless it's reported to GPSoftware, it's unlikely to be fixed unless someone else happens to run into the same problem and reports it for you.
Crashes in Opus that get reported and can be reproduced do get fixed -- unlike a lot of software! -- but it's obviously impossible for people to fix something they don't know about.
So, if you want it fixed, report the details. There's a FAQ which explains how to get a crash-dump that can help track down where the crash occurred (and if it's actually Opus crashing, for that matter; it could be a 3rd party shell extension, video codec, or similar).
Casually mentioning on the forum that there is a crash somewhere, with zero details, and hoping it'll be fixed by magic in a future version is not going to anything done.
JumpList support will be in Opus 10.
Wow... until now, I never herd of software being updated this frequent. I guess I should be expecting more from now on...lol.
