Get rid of "Locked" icon on tabs?

Hi,

I have my tabs locked which puts the "locked" icon on the rt side of the tabs - a huge waste of real estate. If there's a way to turn them off I could have 2 -3 more tabs visible.

So can I get rid of the locked icons?

And , if not, can I sub my own 1 pixel transparent icons for the "locked" icon? (and how?)

It's not currently possible to do either thing. Locked tabs always show the lock icon.
