I do not know what I set wrong but I get a lot of emails about topics being created on the forum.
I just want to be alerted by mail for topics I started or replied to or those I want to watch.

Just turn off mailing list mode and leave your other settings as they are.
The purpose of mailing list mode is to email you every message posted to the forum, like an old-style mailing list would.
