Google Desktop Search v5.8 and Dopus v9 - doesn't work

I am testing Dopus and so far it's great. The only problem is that it doesn't find anything when using google desktop search inside the find panel.
Is this a bug? Is there a workaroud?

I would like to add that I've also tried DOpus with GDS v3 and v4 . None of them work.
Seems like DOpus is just not connecting with GDS's engine.

Has anybody got Google Desktop Search working with DOpus?

I've used it successfully in the past, although not very recently as I don't have GDS installed anymore.

If nobody on the forum can help, try writing to GPSoftware directly to ask for support: gpsoft.com.au/Support.html

Another update:
I have also tried DOpus v9.1 with GDS v1 and v2. They didn't work as well. So none of the GDS versions work on my end. :frowning:

Which version of Windows are you using? Is it 64-bit or 32-bit?

I am using Windows XP 32bit with SP3.

At this point, I think that there had to be some change in DOpus since none of GDS versions work.

I just installed GDS 5.8 on my Vista Ultimate 32-bit SP1 machine and it seems to work fine with Opus 9.1.1.8.

Does GDS find local files for you if you use its own interface instead of Opus?

Got any firewall stuff that might be blocking Opus from using the network? I think GDS works via a local web server which Opus connects to.

Wow Leo, you guessed it right. It was my firewall. Now it's working fine. Great thanks.

Now, another question comes to mind: will DOpus show Outlook search results in the find panel?

Only if the files themselves match the search. Opus only deals with files, not with emails. (The emails are stored in files, of course, but they may be compressed, encrypted, etc. or stored in one huge file instead of one file per email, depending on the mail client.)
