Since upgrading to v9, I've noticed some strange behavior in the file display borders. They seem to expand and contract by one pixel in random directions each time they are redrawn (ie. on directory browsing, new tab, switch to dual mode ect...). Its difficult to provide a screenshot, as its really more of a motion than a graphical blemish. However, upon switching to dual vertical mode, it will stick like this until I select the other pane:
Notice how the FDB on the left pane seems to have shrunk by one pixel on both the top and bottom. I know this is only an aesthetic issue, but its incredibly irritating. I use a custom Visual Style, but switching back to Luna (and even Classic) didn't help. I checked the digital signatures on dopus.exe and dopusrt.exe, and they appear to be fine. The fact that nobody seems to have mentioned this yet worries me. Could a fresh reinstall help? This definitely isn't the only bizarre problem I've had (just the most annoying at the moment).
Perhaps I am the only one, but I don't understand what you're referring to in your screen shot. I also do not know what you mean by: "I use a custom Visual Style, but switching back to Luna (and even Classic) didn't help." Is this something under Vista? I am running XP Pro so perhaps this is why I am not seeing what you're seeing. Your screen shot looks normal to me.

Please clarify.

Well, I did say that it would be difficult to provide a screenshot of a small, quick movement (usually back and forth). Here it is again:
Under magnification, it seems that the two FDBs are actually the same height, with the exception of the two raised pixels on the end of the left pane.
I am using WinXP Pro. Visual Styles are what govern the appearance of the windows on your desktop (and also the taskbar if you're using explorer). "Luna" is the name of the default XP Visual Style, which is why I didn't feel the need to be more specific. The VS I'm using at the moment is a personally modded version of a third party one I downloaded. My first thought was that it was somehow interfering with DOpus, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
[quote="MeaDOpus"]It looks normal to me. With my color scheme, both the bar (whatever it's called) and the border are tan so there doesn't appear to be any difference.
Is anyone else seeing what slowave is seeing?

That "" was uncalled for. It implies that you are irritated with my post, and aren't taking my problem seriously. Opus appears to be malfunctioning, and I'm just trying to get it fixed.
If you have your folder tabs on the top of the FDB, then the FDB would overlap them momentarily when it expands upward. You probably aren't experiencing the problem, and I'm beginning to doubt that anyone else is either.
Did you try rebooting after switching to Luna? I've often found oddities when switching themes that are fixed by reboots.
Given that no-one else seems able to reproduce your problem it would appear your non-standard theme is the issue - perhaps you could provide it or a link to it so others can try it?

Thanks for the suggestion (I hadn't thought of that), but it didn't help. In fact, I just did a COMPLETE reinstall (uninstalled... cleaned registry... reinstalled) with no results. I actually got an error popup and crash while running through the initial configuration wizard. Unregistered file type icons are still showing up as Flickr collections as well. My digital signatures are fine, and I'm not using a stock certificate. Evidently there is something about my system that just sabotages the way Opus runs.
Is there any hope for me, or should I just downgrade to v8 (which wasn't without it's strange issues either)?
The Flickr icon issue is something separate that I know GPSoft are investigating at the moment. 9.0.0.4 had some changes to try to help with it and there should be more in the next update. Don't worry about that for now; a fix is on the way.
The cosmetic issue with the file display border must be due to the font, font-size, and/or Windows theme that's in use. If you could provide a link to the theme and information on how to install it then hopefully GPSoft can try to reproduce it and work out what's going wrong.
It only occurs on the top edge when the folder tabs are located there. While in details mode, It only occurs on the bottom edge when sorting columns are added or removed (either manually, or by browsing to a folder with a different content type). Switching from details to thumbnails mode will cause the FDB to recede from the bottom, but it will not return upon switching back to details. Switching to dual vertical mode will always cause the problem in my screenshot. If the tabs are not at the top, it will only happen on the bottom edge though. Switching to dual horizontal mode seems to effect the whole bottom edge.
Hope that clarifies things a bit...
Since switching to Luna and rebooting didn't help, I doubt its my Visual Style. I do have StyleXP installed, but disabling it didn't help either. The theme I built off of is Simple Plan. I don't think I've modified the code for the tabs or sorting headers (just swapped out the bitmaps).
Good to hear. I can see how Luna's columns headers could make it harder to see the problem, and with your tabs at the bottom, it would be almost undetectable.
