I use the RegExColumns script to add script columns.
When I drag a folder into a script group column enabled folder, the view scrolls to the bottom even though the folder ends up grouped at the top.
It seems that the view scrolls while the folder is very briefly ungrouped at the bottom but then correctly placed and sorted within a group.
If Preferences / File Operations / Copy Options / Automatically select newly copied files is on, it will select and scroll to the item where it first appears. I don't think it will then track it if it moves around in the list.
Turning that option off would avoid the problem. (IMO that option is dangerous anyway, as it can result in the selection changing underneath you if you are doing things in a folder while items are also being copied into it in the background.)
That seems to work much better.
