With version 13.6.2 and before, I have a load of 100% on one hard disk after every restart of the computer.
This utilization takes about 5 minutes.
It is a 14 TB HD hard disk.
There are about 350,000 music files stored on it in about 61,000 folders and subfolders.
It seems that each of these folders is scanned.
After the scan, the size of the content is displayed for each folder. I suspect that this is the problem.
If I restart DO while the computer is running, the load only lasts a few seconds.
It is enough for me, if I can display the size of the folders manually.
Can this be switched off and how?
Check the Preferences / Folders / Folder Sizes
That's, what it looks at the moment. I will disable "Everything" and see what happened after a restart.
Do you have a file collection that references these files?
No I haven't a collection.
After disabling everything it seems OK. Only a few seconds for scanning the disk.
Try this: https://startuptimer.com/ It's not perfect, but can detect some troublemakers.
Might mean Everything isn't indexing the drive properly, or needs to rebuild its index.
Integration with Everything in the manual has suggestions on how to configure Everything.
The start of Windows is fast and OK. The scanning begins after Windows is running.
Thanks. It's interesting and I will try it. The index I built a few days ago. But I haven't read the integration tutorial.
