HIGHLIGHTED WORDS SEARCH........... can I?

hi.... just want to know how i can tell a button to copy whatever text is highlighted and then search with that .....

eg. i highlight "superman'' in the file:
superman returns.avi

then i want to click a button that will search for superman.

Also, I might highlight a word in the preview of a document. Or even in the address bar.

I just want it to search for what is highlighted.

any ideas?

thx

Stop posting the same question into multiple threads - I've had to spend some time tidying up the clutter you've left in multiple forums.

Just show a little patience and maybe people will post answers for you.

You can't do that. Commands have no way to tell what was selected during a cancelled rename, unless you put the selected text into the clipboard, or actually rename the file as that name, etc.

i read at least 8 threads, where leo kept telling people to not post their questions as a reply to the tutorial (or whatever section) + to ask in the help section.

That is why I stated in the first post I copied to the help section ---- that I ..knew.. I was duplicating the post I wrote as a reply in another thread, but I was under the impression I posted in the wrong section and was required to post in the HELP section. (I did this for two whole posts) Sorry that got you so aggravated, enough to be complain about, especially knowing I am new.

Seriously, 2 posts! Sorry buddy for taking up so much of your time to clean my mess. Maybe if it was just 1 you wouldn't have been such an asshole about it! and actually been able to provide an answer, with all that extra time and all. :S

But mostly not v happy because now I have realised this is actually the developers forum. If that's they type of response i get (not even a quiet nudge ..ala pm.. to point out my mistakes...) i'm thinking twice about where I put my money.

after that is said. thanks leo for bothering to reply to me even after i've messed up the postings.

This isn't the developers' forum. It's a user-run forum.

See the top of the page: "User-run support community for GPSoftware's Directory Opus"

(Also the note on the main index page in the Help & Support area's description: "Note: For official help or to make feature requests use the GPSoftware support page.")

I don't think Steve was complaining that you posted in the wrong place -- plenty of people do that -- but that you seemed to be bumping threads after not getting an answer immediately. We try to answer every question but some take longer than others to get around to. (And some do slip through the cracks. That's life with so many posts! Feel free to bump a thread if you think it's been ignored but give it a couple of days at least. People are replying in their spare time and less likely to reply if people seem impatient (or call forum admins a-holes for asking that they be patient and/or not knowing the answer to every single question).)
