How many are we ? :-)

Yesterday, as so many times, I was telling myself again "DOpus is such a great app !".
Yes, after 15 years I'm using it, I'm still so much appreciating it every day.

But yesterday I thought : how many people on Earth enjoy this app?
I asked to Grok which replied devs never communicate on that aspect, but it should be around 20 to 50K.

Well, I don't hope to have an answer then, but I just hope the community will continue to grow because devs deserve it, and windows users as well

Cheers !

I don't really expect more people to use Directory Opus in the future, unfortunately!

I work for 25 years in an IT + software development environment, I was the only one who ever used and promoted it. My impression is, the modern day personal computer user has different things in mind than managing files or automating things.

I even assume, most people don't even have files anymore! o) They have the cloud now and simple applications on their phone, which are still too complicated for many. o)

Even the Linux people, who are known to be very tech savvy, did not manage to come up with a decent file manager for 30 years.

If you are using a different file manager than what your operating system comes with, you are already in a small group of people, maybe 1% do. If you are using DO and not some other product, you are probably another 1%, if you then know how to customize the GUI, you are another 1% and if you know how the documentation and the scripting API works, you are again 1% of 1% and so on.

You are rare! And we are too! o)

The most rare persons though are Jon and Leo.. they are the final 1% of 1% of 1% who know why this program is useful and who know how to keep it alive and kicking in the ever changing Microsoft ecosystem! o)

1% of computer users is still a huge number of people.

Well, DO is a fantastic powerful multiskill tool that can facilitate any PC user's life.
Of course, it's a bit of a geek thing sometimes for specific tasks, but nobody told you're obliged to exploit 100% of the software. It's just nice to know that it's able of about everything you can dream of, and often even more!
I'm not geek (I cannot write scripts or understand quite technical stuff), but I'm an very demanding person and Windows started to make me crazy from Windows 8 on.
It's from then that I starting looking at an alternative for the file management.
With time passing and discovering some really nice extra stuff that I didn't espacially ask for at the start, I started to dream to have this or that in the app if possible.
A couple of times I asked help for some of my wishes here, and Jon or Leo have always replied and tried to help me promptly. And that is something I've always appreciated a lot.

If you like efficiency, DO is the best soft to install 1st on a PC without a doubt. Just sad not more people know it exists or how well it can help them and make them save a precious time every day.

I'm also a bit limited as English is not my 1st language, but I prefer to keep DO in English because it's the best way to get help when needed. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, this is a question I have often thought about.
As end users of DO the only data we have is forum download counts of non-beta versions .

Side Note: .Earth domain names are available and not much more expensive .
My hidden forum email links to my personal one, for this year at least.
It made sense at the time I clicked the button.

Quite true !
I can't convince my elderly mother that file storage can be done on anything other than One Drive.
I give up !

Side Note: I once had a Physics Prof from Belgium for Physics 202.
He is the neutrino telescope, Ice Cube, at the south pole.
