I'm new to DO and am loving the program! However, I have been stumped on how, if it is possible, to control the color and transparency percentage of what I call the "hovering cursor rectangle," which is the semi-transparent colored rectangle that appears under the cursor over clickable and selectable objects such as toolbars items, folders, files, etc. In the screenshot, the cursor is over the "Sort by name" button in the toolbar and the blueish colored rectangle covers the button area, although it is very hard to see.
I found that "Hot" is a term (Preferences > Display > Colors and Fonts > Other Colors > Folder tabs > "Hot background") used to describe tab color when hovering the cursor over tabs but that setting doesn't seem to affect hovering anywhere else. (Maybe "Hot" is an acronym for "Hover Over Tab"?)
The hovering cursor rectangle that DO currently displays in my configuration has a blueish tint to it, which has nothing to do with my color scheme or any of the background or text colors and is almost invisible in many cases.
I have set every background, selected, unselected, source, destination, label and every other color option I found to either black, burgundy or light beige.
Anyone know if it is even possible to set the hover rectangle color and transparency percentage?
My goal is a semi-transparent beige derivative as I hover over darker toolbar items and a semi-transparent black as I hover the cursor over folders and files since their font is light beige.
Thanks in advance for any clues, hints, help or direction! Best regards!
That comes from the Windows visual style, which is not easy to change. (Tools like WindowBlinds can change it, but I don't know if you can change just that one aspect of it and keep everything else. Microsoft change it with each Windows version to make things look different.)
If you turn on Preferences / Toolbars / Appearance / Use Office 2003-style for toolbars in Opus then the toolbars will be drawn via a different method, without using the Windows visual style, where you get more control over colors. But it also uses a very different look which you may or may not prefer.
Thank you very much for your reply and consideration. I tried the "Office 2003-style" option previously and wasn't happy with the immediate results but will try it again if it has a chance of giving me the desired results.
Thank you again for all you do and such a great product!
I remembered what was the main issue with "Office 2003-style," it works great with all the toolbars but when it is enabled there is no hovering color noticeable on Folder Tree objects and none on any folders and files.
Are there other interacting settings that cause the hovering effect to cease over all folders and files, and Folder Tree items in the "Office 2003-style" mode?
The Office 2003 style option only affects how toolbars and menus are drawn. It should not have any effect at all on the folder tree.
(Preferences / Display / Options / Use visual style to draw items (overrides selection colors) may be the option you are thinking of. That one would affect the folder tree, but not toolbars or menus.)
Yes, enabling "Use visual style..." turned the hovering effect back on for Folders, Files and the Folder tree! Now I have some effective hover control settings, I need to see if I can get them to play nice together.

I have to say that WindowBlinds actually solved all my issues and increased the professional look and feel of my overall DO interface with very well designed and artistic hovering objects.
Here is hoping there is a serious movement to enlist a worldwide community of artistic designers that will make an inexhaustible number of slick professional "themes" for DO! If I could have found a nicely designed theme it would have saved a ton of time and a steep learning curve.
Best regards and thank you again for all your hard work and such a nice product as DO!
