How to alternatively select items in thumnails mode?

Little problem here, i almost exclusively use the keyboard for Opus, using the arrow keys for back/forward/up etc., works fine so far, only that in thumbnails mode i can´t select items via the usual way, pressing Ctrl, navigating with arrow keys & selecting with space key, since "arrow left/right" is already in use for "go back/go forward".

Is there an alternative way to make a item selected, without leaving the thumbnails mode?

I solved it by changing the Ctrl-Left/Right hotkeys to Alt-Left/Right. That seems to be consistent with Explorer anyway. Not sure why they are on Ctrl by default in Opus.

They are maybe on Ctrl because it´s easier to use. When i use the normal Alt key, which would require to have a look at the keyboard & additionally to use the other hand (or AltGr key, which is also a bit too far from the arrow keys), the fast navigation forward/back/up is all in an area of neighbouring keys, which is nice to use.

But also combinations (i use) like Ctrl-Shift-Left/Right for changing tabs or Shift-Left/Right for cycling forwards or backwards through drives wouldn´t work anymore, at least not that conveniently. Therefore the solution would be an extra command to select an item, so i could set, for example, "#-Enter" as a command to select the focussed item in thumbnails/files modes. (note that in german keyboard layout the # key is directly beside the Enter key).

Is Ctrl-Left/Right for back/forward a standard, though?

It seems to be Alt-Left/Right in both Windows Explorer and Firefox so I assume that's the standard in which case the default config in Opus should use that. (Which would also solve the Ctrl-Left/Right selection problem.)

Of course you'd be free to change from the default to using Ctrl-Left/Right for Back/Forward (i.e. back to the current default) if you wanted to, but then you'd be back to where you are now, unable to move the keyboard focus left/right in icon/thumbnails modes without also changing the selection.

No, it surely is not the standard, but in terms of ergonomy it´s more logical. I also changed it for Opera, where Alt-Arrows is also the norm. It´s a haptic thing: there are two extra keys between Ctrl & AltGr, which can be hit unintentionally when not looking at the keyboard while using that combis, Windows key & the context menu key. Also the distance between keys is much shorter with Ctrl-Arrows navigation. Not that i never use two hand combinations, but the more i use some functions, the better it is for me to have the shortcuts in the right hand area.

It´s no big deal, but maybe some extra way of selecting files can be included in future versions. I don´t use that keyboard thing very long, but in the meantime i prefer it, because it´s it´s so fast & operating with files is quite more precise.
