How to change file name background color?

Vista (SP1)....DO 9.1.0.6.3044.x86

Stupid me....
I know it's here somewhere, but how do I change the background color for the file display? I'm using Dual Listers. I can't seem to change the background color from light blue.

Thanks.

Preferences - Display - Colors & Fonts

File display background should be the item you want.

If you want to change the background colour of the sort column that is done in the next page, Preferences - Display - Fields.

That did what I wanted! Now I would like to change the .DOC file type to yellow (when UNselected) and green (when selected). When I went to 'Settings\File Types' and made the color selection, it didn't retain the settings for the UNselected color. When I click on the 'Documents' folder, I want all the .DOC files to be automatically have yellow text on my default black background. Where did I mess up?

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks.

Seems okay here:

You're right. That's what I get. What I'm referring to is this:

When I click the 'Documents' folder in the Folder Tree, I want the .DOC files to automatically be highlighted with my selected colors. Same with .MDB files, etc. (no user input necessary, i.e. to select the .DOC files, etc.). It's probably staring me in the face...I just can't see how to do it.

Thanks.

I don't understand.

You say:

and yet what Leo was showing you was exactly what you seem to be asking for. He has configured his .doc filetype to show files in red, and the second screenshot is illustrating that this works.

If you go into Settings -> File Types, locate the .doc filetype and edit it, and set your colors up like Leo shows in the screenshot, what do you see in your Lister when you are in a folder containing document files?

If you still don't think it's working please post a screenshot similar to Leo's showing the .doc File Colors page from the File Type editor, and also a Lister containing one or more document files.

OK. I have it now. It works. Sorry for the confusion. DO has so many options and I need to review them in more detail.

I appreciate your time and responses.
