sometime select multiple file only use keyboard(no pattern, no select all)
ctrl key press during multiple file selection
arrow key move next file(ctrl key pressed)
select next file by space key press(ctrl key pressed)
repeat 2,3
copy and move etc...
this way very difficult.
ctrl+arrow key and ctrl+space key need always both hand.
ctrl key continue press during multiple file section if ctrl key press has mistake then multiple selection canceled.
new way
space key use file selection
arrow key use next file foucs(no other key pressed)
select next file by space key press and not use ctrl key(no other key pressed)
repeat 2,3
copy and move etc...
I want file selection by use only space key
how to change this?
See View Modes and also Power Mode preferences for how you can customize it further. (It does what you're asking for by default, but it can do other things as well.)
In this case, is there an option - I looked in the power mode section of the preferences but did not see anything that looked relevant - to stop DO from automatically selecting the next file in the source lister when you move a number of files from source to destination? I was just trying this, and didn't realise that DO automatically selected the next file in the lister when you moved some, so I ended up moving files incorrectly (putting the focus rectangle on them is fine, selecting them is not).
The next file being selected should not happen in Power mode after a move, at least not by default. It only gets the focus rectangle, at least when I test it here. (All my Power mode settings are the defaults, since it's not a mode I use.)
If you want to stop things being selected on the destination side, turn off Preferences / File Operations / Copy Options / Automatically select newly copied files.
Odd, I am using the defaults here as well (I never use power mode either, just wanted to in this case because I do want Space to select, it is a shame I have to switch modes to use it though), and it definitely was automatically selecting the next file. Will see if I can reproduce and catch on video.
Ok, worked it out. If you have the Viewer Pane enabled (to view the files contents as you select them), the next file automatically selects after you move a file, and if you don't have the Viewer Pane enabled, it doesn't select. Can still do a video of it if required.
I still think the behaviour with the viewer pane enabled is a bug, but space to select seems to be completely broken now in Beta 8. When I press the arrow keys to move to the next file, the whole lister scrolls now, instead of the file rectangle moving, so the only way I can select anything in power mode is with the mouse
