DO has the option of assigning colours to certain folders. Not globally but if I want c:\program files\program to be shown in a certain colour, i can do it. Is there a way to do it for only certain files within a folder. I have a folder of templates, but ywould like to highlight only a couple of the most used ones. Is there a wa to do it? Of course i could simply rename them and put a ! in front to force it to the top of the list, but would be nice to be able to assign a colour to them.

HAHA you must be my long lost cousin, i prefix stuff with symbols and numbers to stick it to the top also.
If you want select files to stand out, plus have them at the top so they are accessible without actually renaming them my hack/workaround may do what you want:
Create shortcuts for your important files, you can use a naming convention to make them appear at the top without effecting the original plus you can right click > properties and give it a custom icon to stand out.
Here i've made a shortcut to header.html and prefixed it with ! so it's up top and gave it a red icon. If i right click and edit the shortcut, the real header.html opens in Notepad++ then when i save the changes are applied to the real header.html
Also you can single click the shortcut and the actual file is viewable in the preview lister. Does that do what you want?
(It's very handy in directories of thousands of files, and your most used ones start with W-Z range)
I would like to be able to highlight individual files in a folder.
In 2005 this was not possible (I am searching the forum.)
Is there any way to do this now? I would like to be able to add tags to certain files (for example to remind myself this file needs a re-write) or
a color to those files.
Also I noticed a similar problem in Favorites. They allow you to give colors to "folders" but not to files.
My folders can have 150 files in them--so that that wouldn't help me as much.
By default it's done through File -> File Commands -> Set Description but you can put it somewhere more convenient if you use it a lot.
You'll need to turn on the Description column to see the descriptions.
Descriptions include things automatically generated by Opus/plugins, such as image dimensions, in addition to any description text that you've defined yourself.
I hope the developers improve this feature. I use One Note sometimes and also e-mail programs. Both of those types of programs allow you to go and "tag" certain files.
I would love the flexibility of being able to tag various pieces of my writing with even non linguistic (visual or intuitive tags)--such as some red or green color (or symbols such as stars) to denote draft or revise.
I would love if the check box mode could be used for that instead of just select--and then to have those tags stay there unless removed by writer.
