How to hide icons for Dropbox Smart Sync?

Hello! Just a quick questions about recent changes in Directory Opus regarding Dropbox Smart Sync.

Is there any way I can hide the Smart Sync icons in the various file views? I appreciate the added functionality, but I like keeping my viewable workspace as clutter-free as possible.

Thanks for your time, and I look forward to your response! :slightly_smiling_face:

If you mean the overlay icons, they're added by Dropbox and actually would have been displayed even without the changes we made.

I'm not sure if Dropbox has an option to let you turn them off or not.

Adding to what Jon says above:

You might be able to disable the Dropbox overlay icons using ShellExView.

Sort by the Type column and look for any Icon Overlay Handlers related to Dropbox. If you find some, right-click them and choose Disable, then reboot and see if the overlays go away.

Of course, it's possible Dropbox may reinstate its components when it updates, so looking for an option within Dropbox itself may be better, if it has one.

Hi Jon & Leo, thanks for the quick replies! I've attached an image that demonstrates the recently added icons as of Directory Opus 12.8 that I'm trying to hide (if at all possible).

I know in File Explorer the overlay icons for Dropbox Smart Sync are handled in the file's icon, which would be fine if we could do that in Directory Opus. Hope that makes sense, I can attach another image to clarify if needed.

Turn off Preferences / Folders / Folder Display / Show OneDrive status icons in the Status column to hide those.

(The option is about to be renamed since it coves more than just OneDrive now.)

Perfect - that's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!!
