How to save a certain view mode as default?

Hi,
I'm searching and searching and searching
and I don't understand WHY must this be so complicated?

I mean, I really hate that "details view" mode in explorer that is set as default.
In explorer I want to see as many items as possible without scrolling.
Thus my preferred view mode is "list."
How the heck can I set the list view mode as default for ANY AND ALL folders?
