How to save default lister in "list view"

For the life of me I can't work out how to save my default dual pane listers in list view. I switch them to list view and then save them and they revert back to "details view".

Could somebody please tell me the various ways (from easiest to hardest) that this can be done.

Thanks, I followed instructions and had success except for one issue: I could not manage to ungroup my files and folders as a default.

I know the question of how to ungroup files and folders and save this as default has been asked before (I searched) but the answer was read the "folder formats: Quick Guide" which I have done to no avail. So is there anyone who can give me the specific instruction of how to ungroup and stay ungrouped?

View > Group By > None, to ungroup.

Then save that as the new default as per the guide.
