How to stop single-click from trying to open files

Hello

Recently (probably since the last update) when I try to drag-and-drop selected file/s the first file tries to open instead of allowing me to move or copy. The manual says 'Single-click can be enabled with the single click to open an item option on the File Displays / Options Preference page', so I should be able to also disable it there. If this means Settings - Preferences - File Display - Options I can't see the option there. This seems to have started since the last update. I have v12.5 x64 and Windows 7.
Thanks in advance,
BJL

You can find it under "mouse", in the file display menu. You can also just type "single" into the search box, which should list that menu.

Found it now. It was unticked anyway but is working OK now with restarted Dopus, so maybe was a temporary glitch.
Thanks for replying. Best wishes, BJL

If single-click was turning into double-click, and that option was off, it's possible your mouse button is starting to fail. This is more common than you might think and has happened to literally every mouse I've bought in the last 15 years eventually :frowning: (sometimes after only a few months).

That had occurred to me when I found the setting unticked, I'll bear it in mind if it occurs again.
Thanks. BJL

This problem has just arisen again for no apparent reason, that is, when I single left-click on a file to copy or move it, or try to select a range to copy or move' a window comes up 'Do you want to open or save this file? Open/Save/Cancel'.
I found it also occurs with another mouse and a trackball plugged into other USB ports, ie not a hardware problem.
Settings – Preferences – File Display – Mouse – 'Single click to open an item' is unticked.
I updated from 12.6 to 12.7 with no effect.
Then I realised that it only occurs with LibreOffice files odt, odg etc. (not with txt, doc, wpd etc).
I looked in Settings – File types thinking that there might be a setting there, but odt, odg are not there though fodt and fodg are. No file type seems to have a drag-and-drop event defined. Should I add odt and odg – seems a bit pointless if a drag-and-drop event is not defined anyway. Also any event setting there could conflict with 'single click to open an item' so which would have priority?
Any suggestions please?

The viewer pane is open and trying to send those files to Internet Explorer, which might have a viewer, but which also does that if it doesn't.

Go to Preferences / Viewer / Plugins, select ActiveX + Preview + Office + Web and click Configure. Remove the extensions which are causing problems from the Internet Explorer line, then click OK.

That should solve things. Please let us know if it doesn't.

That seems to work OK. Thanks - I don't think I would have ever found that solution without help.

It's definitely not obvious.

We might be able to make the viewer detect whether or not the LibreOffice ActiveX Control is installed, and avoid sending the files to IE if it isn't.

That's assuming the control works these days. I haven't tested it in a while, and the devs seemed to be losing interest in it a while ago. If we find it no longer works then we can just remove those extensions from the default config.
