How to update a file field?

I want to update the Company field on a number of files.

What kind of files are they?

If the files already contain that field, the metadata pane and a button like

SetAttr META "company:my new corp"

should work.

It will depend on the type.

For example, exe files have a Company field but need to be edited using special tools (and may need re-signing afterwards).
