I'm not sure what has happened (last update, system crash?) but my hotkey customisation that I've made has been lost - or doesn't seem to work as before. Anyway, the problem I'm having is that my last backup didn't include a couple of the newer additions. I'm trying to recreate them manually and I can't seem to set the shortcut keystrokes with the Alt key included in the shortcut.
I'd previously set the shortcut to Ctrl + Alt + D to switch between dual and single lister, but now the Alt key isn't being recognised at all when I try and set the shortcut. I've seen a post which talked about the NUM lock key and I've tried turning on and off (or off and on) the NUM lock on and off but nothing changed.
Can anyone help me out with this. I'm baffled as I have custom shortcuts with Ctrl + Alt and I know that it worked before...
If the Alt key works in some places but not others then the other places are configured incorrectly. If the Alt key never works anywhere, it could be stuck or the switch defective. If it is stuck, press it on and off ten times quickly to see if that fixes it. If the switch for the key might be defective, get a free keyboard tester at Download Switch Hitter - MajorGeeks and confirm the status of the key. If defective, put in a new switch for the key.
Whilst I do have a mechanical keyboard, I'm not having a problem with the alt key at all - other than when I try to create a shortcut in DOpus. To confirm that I've not got a problem with the key, I've used a keytester as you suggested - it's working as it should.
I've included an image of the window I'm using to create my shortcuts - just to avoid any confusion. When I recorded this shortcut I was pressing the Alt key as well as the Ctrl and D key.
The OS may be confused about the state of the Alt key(s).
Tapping both the left and right ones, while the hotkey editor is active, should fix that if it's what's wrong.
Something might be intercepting the Alt key (when Opus is active).
That could happen if you're using AutoHotkey or similar and there's an error in the config, or with some keyboard drivers that have per-app settings that can reassign or disable keys depending on the active window.
