Opus 13 had given me the opportunity to revisit my configuration and clean up some legacy elements. I'm thinking this may be one of them. Check out the "{infotip}" string in my Tiles Mode view for All Folders:
Am I right in thinking this is just a legacy from a bygone era when {infotip} was a code used within the tiles definition? It looks like I kept in all my InfoTip defintions, most of which haven't been touched in years.
I hadn't seen it displayed before I ugpraded to Opus 13. Maybe it had been ignored/rendered as null in Opus 12?
Anyone have any insight? Should I just trim the string out of my Tiles Mode InfoTip definitions?
After a couple nights of good sleep, it appears I had been attempting to include the Info Tip data for certain file types by including {infotip} in the Tiles Mode definition, as well.
This wasn't as widespread as I thought, as it appears I was only doing this with folders, not with files.
I can't say for sure it was actually working in Opus 12, though I don't recall seeing the string printed literally in the tiles view before upgrading to Opus 13. Could be that Opus 12 was ignoring it as gibberish and not rendering it at all — or that I hadn't thought about it in years and hadn't noticed it.
Either way, these instances of {infotiop} look to be vestiges of a mistake from years ago I was able to rectify in my Opus 13-motivated freshen-up.
If any mod would like to delete this thread entirely as it's nothing but a goose chase — please feel free.
The {infotip} code works in infotips (it exists to let you include the system-generated tooltip in your customised tooltip). I don't think it's ever worked from tiles mode.
Did you possibly copy an infotip definition into the tiles mode configuration?
I did notice I'd only included it in Folder filetypes, not in any File filetypes.
Looking at my actual Info Tips definitions, the Folder types do have {infotip} at the end whereas the File types do not. I can easily see myself copying over variables from the Into Tip to Tiles Mode, possibly editing or rearranging those variables, and never noticing the vestigial {infotip} left behind.
Until recently, I haven't used Tiles Mode often — though that's starting to change. That too may explain why I've never noticed it until recently. (Nothing to do with the Opus update at all.)
