After installing the new dopus beta 10.0.0.5 and rebooting, I got the message "applying update operation ...... (\REGISTRY\MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRE...)" or something to that affect. The windows OS went thru the "configuring" mode before presenting the login screen.
Is there a connection between the install and this message ? Everything seems to be operating OK at this time.
hmm, I checked the windows update history and found this:
Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.256
Installation date: 6/21/2012 6:32 AM
Installation status: Successful
What's different is that windows apparently did this without asking me as it usually does since I don't allow updates to be applied automatically. Must be the nature of the update to the windows update agent itself.
That exactly same happened to me today as well. And I am sure I did not download and install any update, nor was I asked/informed about it. Wish I knew what that was?
I just rebooted without installing the Opus update and saw the same thing, so it's definitely not the Opus update.
Same as hpearce, a Windows Update update installed itself earlier in the day without any notification, and must've been waiting for the reboot to finish its work.
Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.256 is what was installed and, from Microsoft's description of the update, it looks like an emergency update to address some of the exploits which the US & Israeli governments used to subvert the Windows Update mechanism as a way for their Stuxnet and Flame malware to spread. (I'mnotmakinganyofthatup. )
So I get to say, blame the US government, blame Microsoft, but it wasn't Opus.
