I usually install the upgrade version right over the old. I didn't see this question which is odd, but which is better as far as avoiding issues?
You can tell where I'm headed with this, I'm of the opinion clean install is better. I always have configuration backups, so that's not a consideration.
Never mind, I hadn't gone to the download page where it recommends installing over it. Must be dumb day, I can't see where to edit my original post either!
I did a fresh one, but as you, I did install over the older version usually.
Both are fine, but if you uninstall you will wipe your existing config, so only do that if you want to start from a clean config or already have a backup of the old one.
Opus is designed so you can install new versions over the top of old ones. (But not vice versa, going from new back to old, which may have issues where the old version won't understand everything in a new configuration.)
Ok. I started with Version 9 and hardly remember any problems installing on top of existing versions from then to now, which is pretty impressive. I'm starting with a fresh install of Windows Ten pro and I'm curious.
