Install 32bit DOpus on Win7-64bit - How to ?!

Hi all!

I upgraded to Win7-64 a while ago and now I'm just sick on having to
scroll with scrollbars and mousewheel all the time, because in former days
i was able to use "MouseImp Pro", a nice tool which allowed to drag any
scrollbar anywhere when simply holding rightmousebutton down. No need
to aim for the small scroll-thumb, no need to hurt your fingertip when scrolling
long pages or listviews (files in dopus in my case here..).

To stay on topic: MouseImp Pro only works on 32bit software, so I need
to run 32bit DOpus on Win7-x64 to make it work.

If I try to run the 32bit-Setup, it tell's me to install the x64-Version and exits.
Is there any "/force" switch or the like to make it install though !?

For some of you my intention might seem very odd, but I am truly
addicted and dependent on this "right mouse button scrolling", because
once you get used to it, you just really cannot go on without anymore!

I did not switch to Win7 because of it's look or features, but for several
software which could not be run with win2k anymore. Resinstalling Win7
in 32bit-flavour ist not an option either, to much work done already to
make it behave and look like Win2k..(took me 2 month)..

As unusual as this help-request is.. pls do help.. o)
Any hints appreciated! Thx in advance!
Rob.

You can't.

32-bit file managers don't work properly on 64-bit windows so you probably wouldn't want to even if you could.

Maybe this is of use, if you've not seen it already:

Hi Leo!

I can't ?! Really ?! .. But I need to! Think again please!.. o)

sigh..

So ok, I can't.. o(

Thank you for clearing this and for even looking for an alternative for
MouseImp!.. o) Nice guy you are! .. o) I know of the suggested alternatives
on the mouseimp site. I tried them all and looked for my own, there's
no replacement that does the job so smoothly as mouseimp did it.

Thank you!.. I will see what to do now.. I recently digged through the sources
of mouseimp and know how it works already, but my own attempt was not
successful till now.. o) C# and hooking and compiler-settings 32 vs 64bit..
a whole new world to discover.. will take some time. I thought I just could
ship around all this by using 32bit on 64.. o))

Ok, enough smalltalk.. o)
cya!

But wait.. aren't you this die-hard c++ coding crack ?!.. o))
Perhaps you could.. ah.. no, ok.. just a thought.. o)

have a nice weekend.. o)
Rob.

Sounds like the MouseImp source-code is stuck in Visual Studio 6 (from 12 years ago ) and needs work to compile with a newer version that can build 64-bit apps.

Don't know how much time it'd take but more than I have to spare.

Force yourself to give the scrollwheel another try - they really are very easy to use

@Leo
Yep, VStudio6.. o) I can get it to compile, but not as easy in VS2008.. o)
Do you think that just recompiling with 64bit-Option would do the trick ?!
I wonder if all these Send/PostMessage() and LowLevelHooks would work
without further tweakment, i cannot imagine. I guess one would have to
deal with a lot of type-changes, using different size variables/types and
so on.. ?!

I get your point regarding your spare time.. o) Thx for looking though.. o))

@jon
Excuse me, Jon.. do you know MouseImp !?.. o)
If you suggest using the scrollwheel to scroll any view, it's like someone
not knowing about DOpus ist telling me, that "Explorer.exe" is the way to
go for managing files.. o)

Seen the other way round, if you know DOpus, Explorer is a no go for
efficient and flexible filemanagement. So it is with MouseImp.. if you
spend hours on your computer seeking through textfiles and websites,
the wheel is not an option, if you know how fast and exact scrolling can be.
(FireFox via PlugIn, FoxIt, AcrobatReader and several other apps, have
this "grab the view and drag it around"-feature already built in, because it
really helps getting things done quickly. The implementation by
MouseImp btw. is far superior!)

You both, being programmers and working alot with sources and stuff,
would benefit greatly from the said tool and its system-wide functionality.
It's in you, people using DO are made of the same flesh as MouseImp-
Users.. believe me.. o)

I'd pay 100 EUR.. o) Paypal addresses anybody ?!.. o)

Ok, now that I start to sound really insane.. I stop stressing this topic any
further.. o)

I had fun talking to you guys.. o)
I'm off, need to dive into VisualStudio.. o)
Cya,
Rob.
