Is there a way to make the Image Viewer appear separately on the taskbar?

When I open an image from Directory Opus, the image viewer window doesn't get its own icon on the Windows taskbar. Instead, it gets grouped or "stacked" with the main Directory Opus file manager window under a single icon.

This creates two issues:

  1. Lack of Clarity: I can't tell at a glance if the Directory Opus taskbar icon represents just the file manager or if there are also image viewers open and hidden behind it.
  2. Inefficiency: To switch back to an open image, I have to hover over the single Directory Opus icon to see all the open windows and then select the image I want. This requires extra clicks.

For comparison, when you open an image from the standard Windows File Explorer, it launches the Photos app, which appears as a separate icon on the taskbar. This makes it very easy to see what's open and switch between your files and your images.

The Proposed Solution: A Separate Taskbar Icon for the Viewer

I really like the features of the Directory Opus image viewer and want to continue using it. The solution is simple:

Provide an option in the Directory Opus settings to make the Standalone Image Viewer behave like a separate application on the taskbar.

When this option is enabled:

  • The image viewer should have its own distinct icon on the taskbar, separate from the main Directory Opus file manager icon.
  • If I open multiple images, they should all group together under the viewer's icon, not the file manager's icon.

I have tried every keyboard shortcut and every possible search to find something on this site about Taskbar groups for Directory Opus. I usually find useful scripts and settings, but this time I couldn’t find anything. I was certain there was an option to enable it somewhere, but I was shocked when nothing came up. The title seems so obvious, yet it didn’t show up in a Google search. Anyway, I’m very grateful for your help and hope we can add this option natively in the settings without needing scripts.
